So I have SLIGHTLY recovered from my Norman Reedus news. It's been a hard week, but with the help of Sheena & knowing that the season finale of The Walking Dead is Sunday, we can all make it through this tragedy together. And I am always taking suggestions for the NERD-perfect shirt.
Ok lovelies! Ready for my personal Favsies Friday? I will be chatting it up about basic (mostly inexpensive) skincare & with just a couple tweeks to your routine, the perfect skin is so much closer! Frankly, it's
much easier than dropping that last couple lbs for bikini season.
Firstly, a Dove bar. GET ONE! My dermatologist turned me on to
this secret many years ago. It's so gentle, it clears acne, & it pH
balances your face. Remember loves, washing your face morning &
night makes a huge difference when it comes to aging. Our skin needs
to recover from all the crap we throw at it all day. It's great for any skin type, especially sensitive! Don't get me
wrong, you will still want to exfoliate a couple times a week to clear the dead skin. My exfoliation fave is the Clarisonic (game changer & will be a future post).
Quick tip: Use a clean washcloth to dry your face. I buy white ones by the dozen. They are easy to bleach when they get dirty and easy to toss when they get grungy.
If you get the occasional or even frequent breakout, pick up a sulfur based product. Kate Somerville's EradiKate is a great topical treatment that will help dry out blemishes & most of the time they're gone the next day.
Do: put it on at night so it can work while you sleep.
Don't: put this on before your makeup. Your makeup will pool in the area of the blemish and will make the blemish more noticeable. You can pick this up at Sephora for around $20:)
I picked up this sulfur cleansing mask from Walmart for under $10. It's perfect for the larger breakout areas & also works quickly without having to leave it on all night.
Do: use this if you have a large amount of acne & or combo skin.
Don't: use this for longer than 10 minutes.
Quick tip: wash your pillowcase often to reduce breakout.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream is currently my go-to for most skin issues including dry, flakey, red, acne, and pretty much whatever you can think of. Colloidal Oatmeal is the key ingredient that calms and soothes the skin and replenishes the moisture. It is also a great solution for eczema! Get all your issues solved for around $13 at Sephora.
Do: use this if you want clearer, smoother, acne free skin.
Don't: use this if you hate great skin.
Sunscreen. Yes, they wrote a song about it & your mamma nags you about it. Ever heard of a little word called hyper-pigmentation? Meaning those dark spots that are overwhelming your face & take a ton of work to fix. They can be prevented for next to nothing with a good sunscreen. Save yourself tons of money and protect your skin now! (We will talk spot correction later).
I adore Neutrogena anything over SPF 50. I'm a sucker for anything that is for anti-aging. This guy is around $10 at your local Target.
