Team Cosplay for the WIN! If you are any type of fan of people watching Salt Lake Comic Con is winning. Lagoon and Walmart watch out! Salt Lake Comic Con Cosplayers have gone above and beyond what they did for Fan X earlier in the year. We have literally seen everyone from Spiderman to Sharknado. Yes.. they were a tornado with sharks all over them… and it was amazing!  

Jamie and I are running around crazy doing all sorts of fun stuff but the internet connection on our phones has been so bogged down by all the traffic that nothing is posting. Sad emoji. So we will make up for it with a post overload next week :)

I Invented Post-Its/ Getting Reunion Ready

This past week was mine and my husband's 10 reunion. We both graduated in 2004 from the same High School. I knew the reunion was this year and last year I started having the thoughts:

-I'm going to start working out right now so I can be in awesome shape 

-Good thing we are done having kids so I won't be pregnant

-I better hurry and accomplish something great

Judge all you want for my vain-y-like thoughts, but I'm pretty sure at least a good 80% of people that go to their reunion have similar thoughts, if not the same. It is what it is. You want to have aged like a fine wine..not like your diet coke that sadly goes flat waaaaaay to suddenly. Why is it that we feel the need to impress people that we haven't seen, nor talked to in 10 years? Who knows… I think movies brainwashed us in that way. 

Anyway, the reunion snuck up on me too quickly and I guess when the last time I went to the gym was?

……………

December. Freaking Christmas time. So what do I do? I run a half marathon that I didn't train for. In hopes that 3 hours of jogging/running would lift my butt back to where it used to be and that the constant forward/backward movement of my swinging arms would give them definition that didn't require the push of a finger. 

With the working out part out the window it was time to make due with what I could control. SPANX it is. 
So without further a due, here are my reunion ready tips.

1. Get Your Hurrr Did

Cover those grays girl! Seriously. I started going gray at about 20. Stupidest thing ever. Something I thought about after the fact, was call for back up. Remember in High School when you would get together with all your friends and get ready for dances? If life allows, have a hair sesh before the reunion. If life is too busy for day of, invite a few of your old group to go get pedicures. 

2. Treat Yourself to Nails and a Pedicure

For those awkward moments when you are talking to someone from high school and a conversation and you have nothing to say. They can just comment on how cute your nails are…

I promise you will at least have one awkward conversation. 

3. Find the Outfit

This kind of depends on the venue. Ours was being held at a park so it was a no go on trying to fit into my old prom dress.

I really didn't want to wear Bermuda shorts. I have my reasons..

In High School I definitely marched to the beat of my own drum when it came to fashion. I took risks. Some were great, some were just as bad as your dad still wearing his retina damaging neon shorts from the 80's. I wanted to pay homage to my younger self and wear something that reflected good old me. I have definitely grown since High School, but there are parts of me that existed then that I embrace now. I say go with comfort and something with a little edge. I think ant a reunion is a great reason for new clothes. they don't come along very often so go ahead and treat yourself. Whatever you chose, make sure it is YOUR style. Don't forget to accessorize. If all else fails, maxi skirt it. Dress 'em up or down. Like I read on IG the other day:
Maxi skirts are just crotchless yoga pants
Completely acceptable if you ask me. Who does't love yoga anything these days?

4.What is Your Accomplishment?

The two main questions you will most likely hear are

What have you been up to?

What do you do?

Sadly I could not tell everyone that I invented Post-Its.

I did however marry the man of my dreams and have three beautiful children. That is my accomplishment. My best accessory was my family. What ever your accomplishment is, wear it like a statement necklace. Refined and finished. Be confident and proud of who you have become and where you are at in life. Be genuine and exude passion when you speak. If you do this, it won't matter the accomplishment, you might as well have won the Nobel Peace Prize. A mother of 3, or the inventor of Post-Its.

5. Reunions Are No Longer Like the Movies

Leave your expectations at the door because Facebook has completely sucked the fun out of reunions. There is no element of surprise. The people you care to know what is going on in their lives…..you are probably already in the know because you are friends on Facebook. You have already spied on your High School crush/boyfriend and know whether or not he is fat and bald and if you are cuter than his current wife. What's that? They don't have a Facebook? Then they probably won't be at the reunion anyway because that is how the reunions are mainly communicated. You already know who married who, who has kids, and who is the world traveler. It seriously puts a strain on conversations when you have been Facebook friends for years but when put in front of each other you can't find crap to say. 

Oh social media…. you oxymoron you.

All in all.. try not to stress over it. Be confident and love who you have become. Be proud of who you have grown into. Confidence will carry you a lot further and impress more than the perfect outfit… Although it definitely wouldn't hurt ;)

Whatever You Are, Be a "Good One" + Bachelorette Rambles

Abe Lincoln once said,

We love this quote and so does the super cute Kate from 

Ivory Kate. So much in fact, that she started making these amaze-balls Tees. Not only is the message "Good One" ..a good one, but the fit of these shirts are perfect. They are lightweight and LOOOOONG. What's worse than a short shirt? Almost nothing I say. I've washed my shirt 3 times and so far it is still in pristine condition. As per usual, just make sure you are following the care directions. Do this and your clothes will live long happy lives. Promise. 

This shirt comes in white or black xs-xl. Mine is a medium. I probably could have gone with a small but I always like to error on the "a little baggy" rather than "muffin top". Jamie loves it too! She is getting it in black so we can twin it like no ones business.

Did anyone watch The Bachelorette Part 1 last night? Prettttty sure I freaked a little when I saw 

Boys ll Men. They were my first concert EVER. I know… I am THE coolest….and old. Those boys butchered one of the best baby making songs of all time though. Let's just be real about that. And classically trained homeboy wasn't helping much. Like.. at all. I'm liking Nerdy Nick but I don't have any other loves thus far. Can we talk about how beautiful Andi looked as an older woman? I decided that when I get to be that age I will have to own a wig. It was her beautiful white hair! But there is no way I'm heading that direction with these thin locks. So I will be the old lady with the fabulous wigs. Who blogs about her fabulous wigs. ;) Bellami- Can you start working on that for me? Kay thanks!

Last but not least.. I can't help but feel a pang of sadness every time they show Eric Hill. Especially last night with all the talk of death and it could happen to any one of them. They were talking about Ron and his friend that had passed of course, but it was just eery. I couldn't help but wonder how it is for his family and friends to watch the show. Bittersweet I'm sure.

Crossing the Path of Tiles + A Little WIW

I remember as a little girl walking past the "Junior" section in department stores and being excited for the day I could explore the next stage of fashion. That day came soon enough and I have been shopping the sale racks and taking risks ever since. 

Not being able to buy whatever I wanted, from wherever I wanted, made me have to creatively expand my closet on my own. In high school my friends and I would seriously shop at the Kids Abercrombie & Fitch and buy their larges just so we could afford the brand. I'll have to do a whole other post on my sale shopping tricks. 

Anyway, back to my point. 

A little while back while browsing the junior section at a major department store, I got to thinking...

Should I be shopping over here? 

Should I probably be shopping over in the "Women's" section?

Are people wondering what I am doing buying clothes targeted for girls 10 yrs younger than I?

Now that I think about it, I have shown up to church wearing the same things as the young women :/

 I walked over to the "Women's Section" and looked around. First of all… How come clothes targeted for "women" are double the price of "juniors"? Do they assume that since I am older that I have double the money? Wouldn't it be just the opposite because my parents no longer take me "back to school" shopping? 

( Even though I totally tried to talk my Dad into that last year to no avail ;) )

Just because I make more, I now have BILLS! You know.. Mo' Money Mo' Problems.

I kept looking. 

I looove some of those higher end clothes. They are beautiful. But I need more bang for my buck. I would rather have 5 shirts that don't quite last me as long giving me more outfits than having one shirt that after buying I can't afford pants to go with it. Know what I'm saying sisters? At least until I can afford to buy 5 of those shirts.

Still looking…

Nothing. Anything that did appeal to me was way more than I would pay for an item and the rest was just not… well, it wasn't "me". 

So when is it that we are supposed to graduate to the next step in life of fashion? When is it time to cross the path of tiles over to the section with the overhang that displays "WOMEN'S"? The answer?

Whenever you want. 

When it comes to fashion the best thing you can do is be YOU. All while keeping in mind what works best for your body type, shop what appeals to YOU. No matter what section/department that is. Including the "Men's". The fabulous thing about fashion is that it has no judgment or boundaries. It is up to you personally to discover what is appropriate for you and what you are comfortable with. It is a matter of taste. A matter of shopping within your means. Will I ever leave the "junior" section? The answer is ...probably. When? Who knows. And that's perfectly fine.

Choosing my own fashion means I get to wear these cute boyfriend jeans that my husband absolutely hates because they look like "boy" pants ha ha. 

( Literally while shopping with him the other day he asks,

"Are those pants supposed to be that loose?" )

Shop where you want ladies. Wear what you want. Use us bloggers as an inspiration, not an idol. See a blogger wearing something that you love that is out of your means? Find an alternative. There ALWAYS is and alternative. As long as you feel confident and comfortable, then you should strut your outfit with said confidence. No matter the brand. No matter the price. No matter the department.

I am loving Graphic Tees these days! There is nothing like a good T shirt. How appropriate is this "Selfie" tee by AE? It is so so so soft! 

Believe it or not… this is my first time trying out boyfriend jeans. I think they are so cute on other women, I was just afraid of looking frumpy if I wore them. Well, I tried them and the verdict is… 

I L-O-V-E them. I will probably only wear them with heels though. I am already on the shorter side so I need them to elongate my legs while rocking this style. I really like this boyfriend fit, but I sill want to look and feel like a woman. 

And of course my most favorite diaper bag ever. Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Backpack. Typically these bags are about $180, but if you are patient and shop around, you can usually get them for half off.  One recommendation though… If you decide to go with a PPB, make sure not to by the cloth material kind. It snags and isn't as easy to clean. Other than that, this bag is a must have for mommas!

Happy Easter Loves!

Jamie and I are still trying to wind down from the whirlwind also known as Comic Con Fan X. It was a blast! We will be posting all about it starting the first of the week. 

Easter is my favorite time of year to dress my kids. There is nothing like seeing them in their Sunday best! And yes I am THAT Mom. The OCD in me comforted in seeing all my kids in matching outfits. In all the hustle and bustle of Holidays nowadays.. It is easy to forget what we are really celebrating. While I do love a good shopping session for my kids. Tonight while I tucked them into bed I cuddled in next to my boys and grabbed a special book. A book about Christ's Resurrection written for children. As I read to them the true reason for celebration I was getting asked questions like-

What is that stuff in the cups?

Why did they want to kill him?

Why is Mary crying?

Mom, Can Jesus only fly in clouds?

While some questions a little more heavy than others, all were important. They were thinking about their savior and thats all I could ask for on the Eve of Easter Sunday. Because of HIM, I feel the pain as Mary is searching for her beloved. Because of HIM, I rejoice with the Apostles as they spot him on the shore. Because of HIM, I am comforted in the fact that I can return to my heavenly Father just as Christ did. Because of HIM, I have a beautiful family and children that restore my faith everyday.

While I closed the book and kissed them goodnight my littlest man calls to me-

"MOM! We need to say a prayer!"

My oldest says-

"Oh Yah! Why didn't I think of that?"

And when I asked who wanted to say it they BOTH jumped at the opportunity. 

We had two prayers tonight.

And many more answered.

A Little Bit Country and a Little Bit Rock and Roll

Happy Hump Day my loves! I hope your weekend gets here quickly from this point on. 

Soo…..We need to talk. Something happened in Vegas that I'm not very proud of. Have you ever  gambled or watched someone gamble? For the most part, someone sits down and 5 minutes later there money is gone. Leaving them with an empty feeling and a thought...

"What the?! What just happened?

And then they are just mad the rest of the day because they can't stop thinking about how quickly their money was taken. 

Little known fact- I almost NEVER spend more than $20 on a shirt. Its all about quantity for me when it comes to my shirts. I need options. If I spent the money on higher quality items.. I would have like.. 5 shirts. Thats just dumb. But, it's your closet. Do what makes your feel good :)

Sorry… back to the story.

At the Party for a Cause they had venders. All different sorts. There was this cute blonde managing a clothing spot. I browsed and didn't see anything I loved, but I LOVED her outfit. I asked her if she sold  the shirt/tunic she was wearing and she told me that she did, but she didn't have any with her. However, she could bring one down for me the next day. DONE I said. Seeing how it was boutique clothing I figured it would probably cost me around $40. The thought was a little cringing but I figured I was on vacation so why not splurge a little. Hey, it was better than sitting down at at a craps table, losing my money, and having nothing to show for it. 

They next day I went to pick it up and this is how the convo went:

Me: Hey! Were you able to get that shirt?

CBG (cute blonde girl) Yes! I only have one left. I'm so glad you came back!

Me: Are you kidding? I love it! Of course I came back! What size is it?

CBG: small

Me: perfect!

(imagine me grinning from ear to ear because I am already picturing how I will wear it, and cookies, and gumdrops, and everything else that fills a girls head with happiness…I hand her my card)

CBG: Ok I'm just going to have to charge your card twice sjdflfjgh…..*mumbling something about price tags*

Me: ok..ya! What did she just say?.. oh well, I am so excited about this shirt!

CBG: K it's $$$

Me: Oh uhh ya … let me use a different card..

And I walked…no it was more like a scurry, away. You guys. It was not $40. It was no where near that. I can't even bring myself to tell you how much it was. That and my husband might be reading this. (If that's the case..well we had a good run friends. I'll see ya around when I get out of shopaholics anonymous)

She told me the price and I was in such sticker shock that I paid it and walked away. I seriously felt like I just sat at a craps table and watched some CBG take my money. Only at least if I had gambled, I wouldn't have this dark secret hanging in my closet screaming at me every time I wore it. To add salt to the wound.. I searched it online. Finding out how much the shirt really was hurt almost as bad as paying what I did for it. Lets just say to get my moneys worth, it will not only be a shirt, but a swimsuit cover up AND a night gown. 

I don't know what was wrong with me. Why didn't I just say "Um.. H-to the-NO" and walk away? 

Moral of the story is… Ask how much a shirt is before your are in too deep. Or you may just end up doing the walk of shame out of a slew of vender shops.

I did have some positive experiences with some of the venders in Vegas and found a couple of favs. 

(I really do love this shirt you guys..I just didn't love getting duped) 

This hat is from Hicktown Couture and I actually bought it for my man. BONUS! I can wear it too. And I love it! The fit is great and $15 the pice is even better. They don't have their hats on their site yet but they are based out of Arizona and GUESS WHAT! They will be here in Utah at Country Explosion. Go check them out there or take a look and their All American- Country- straight out the sticks- clothing line. (I love the mason jar top)

These might possibly be my most favorite bracelets in the history of ever. (Except for my Pandora bracelet. Love you honey!! )
