Our Savvy Style

Have you ever decorated the most beautiful tree with your cute babes, and then as the days count down to Christmas you tree starts to look more like Pad Tai rather than Tai Pan? Mostly because your littles have taken it upon themselves you redecorate the tree every single day. So you take a trip to a local store and pretend you have  the most beautiful high vaulted ceilings, perfectly decorated 12ft trees,  and very expensive furniture. People were staring, but mostly at Ari because she looked so dang cute!

A month ago at Alison's Emotion Fest we met the gorgeous Staci from Our Savvy Style. She has a boutique with her adorable daughter Savannah.

Her IG account is has cuteness overload of Mommy and Me styles.

How amazing is this White Lace Dress from Our Savvy Styles? It has the perfect touch of vintage.
There is also a liner underneath it so you don't have to worry about a slip for your little.
It comes in sizes 18mo-6T

So. Dang. Cute. Our Savvy Styles is definitely one to check out! I just got Ari's Christmas outfit from them and it is killing me! You can find them on Instagram at

When Life Hands You Lemons… and a Kimono

"Somebody's got a case of the Mondays"
I wonder how many times that line has been used in the blogging world? Heres my contribution. Is anyone else draggin butt today? MAN O MAN. I hope you all are out killin it because I am sitting here still in jammies with a vanilla COKE. That's right..it's not even diet.
I am so grateful for the fashion industry for showering us with a plethora of Kimonos. I heart them. I'm talking pulsating heart emoji them. Guess who has a million of them at affordable prices? Tj Maxx. So now I can go buy a Kimono at Tj Maxx and then drive down to Bountiful Swig and get a 32-ouncer and a swig cookie and feel totally great about. I wish I were kidding…
I'm pretty pumped to find all the different ways I can wear my Kimonos. Yes plural Kimonos. I bought more than one!
I decided to start with a more dressy approach and wear my best Kimono for Jesus yesterday. I bet he loves them just as much as me! Man I love that guy!

Have you ever had somebody make a decision that reeeeeeeeally annoyed you? Like, threatened the lives of your children and possibly ruined your summer annoy you? I did. It started a couple months ago when I woke up to some loud freakin tractors. I don't live on or near a farm so this was unacceptable.  I looked outside my window only to discover they were digging a hole two lots over. Now I'm sure a lot of you have experienced this and you might be thinking-
Who cares?!
Get over it!
Homes need to be built!
Well let me explain why I was bugged.
1. I'm being woke up and that automatically makes me angry
2. No one thought a house would EVER be built on this lot because it is about big enough to fit a picnic table on it
3. There will be Port-a-Potties. PORT-A-POTTIES.
4. It is a little boys dream
Now before you start calling me a dream crusher, you must know that my two boys were born without fear. NONE. So I immediately started having visions of my boys falling and impaling themselves on rebar, climbing down a port-a-pottie hole, falling off the second story floor, (this has already happened once, but that's another post) or even falling IN cement. None of which were too farfetched.
I was so looking forward to summer because this year I was going to give Hudson a little more freedom to play outside with all the kids. We live in an awesome little cul-de-sac full of kids, so he was super excited to finally get to go run with the big kids instead of watching through the window.
Hudson in awe of the tractors. Those are staples in the back of his head mind you..and bird poo on my window.
Now what was I supposed to do? Did they not know who they were building next to? I think the 911 operators know us by name. Seriously. I had a neighbor tell me the other day that they heard an ambulance siren so loud as if it were close by, so they ran outside to see if it were at our house. DEAD serious.
Summer is halfway over and they are halfway finished. No accidents yet. Knock on wood. So what do you do when you have an annoying situation but a beautiful Kimono?
You turn it into a photo op.

Hudson Smash

Does anyone know if the "middle child syndrome" is really real? World, Meet Hudson Dean.
Number 2 of 3. Smack dab in the middle. He is witty, funny, manly, and by far my hardest. We butt heads like crazy. This little dude has had stitches 4 times within the past 14 months, drank dog antibiotics, gave his brother stitches, tried to ride his 10 month old sister like a horse, and permanently stole my spot in MY bed. He is 3 1/2.
He is my test for sure. My oldest didn't have a mean bone in his body. He and Hudson couldn't be more opposite. Don't get me wrong, I love this dude to the moon and back infinity and beyond. I just haven't figured out how to be his parent yet. It's hard being the one who is supposed  to be the nurturer when he doesn't want me. He wants Daddy. Which is fine.. I'm totally good with sharing that responsibility, but I would be lying if I I said it didn't make me a little jealous. I just can't figure out my place with him because he doesn't want me to have one. Every once in a while, like this morning, he will climb up on my lap and ask me to hold him. You bet your arse that I take full advantage of those moments. Phone down, my arms are all his.
Last night while talking to my Husband about it, he says

"He loves you. He just does in his own way on his terms."

This kid is just as hard headed as his momma. I'm sure what is happening here is we are one in the same. Too much alike.
Im not perfect. I don't have all the answers. Clearly. I just want my children to know that they are loved and that these arms are open 24/7. Don't you ever think..I hope I am not screwing this up. Am I doing this all wrong?
And then there are the days that he says

"Mom, you're beautiful. I love you."

All in the most sincere voice I've ever heard.
I won't give up on you little man. I will still run to you when you fall no matter how many times yo tell me to "go away". I will tell you I love you everyday, multiple times a day. I will share my bed when the nightmares creep in. I will love you for life. No conditions.

Hudson will no doubt be the life of the party as he gets older. He loves superheroes and the Hulk is his favorite. Hudson Smash is the perfect nickname for this little stud. This kid is already about his fashion and is pretty consistent. He consistently has his underwear and his pants on backwards and mismatched socks. In his defense, red and blue go together so his one Ironman sock and his one Captain America sock DO match! Ha Ha oh I love him so..

Hudson is head to toe in Old Navy. Can I first just say a big THANK YOU to Old Navy for selling vintage character tees? I can't stand character clothes/shoes/ect.  I know it's not me wearing them, but I struggle putting my kids in them. Jammies? Totally fine. I can deal with that.
The vintage feel makes them much more bearable and most of the time cute! I LOVE VINTAGE. These shirts allow everyone to be happy. Win win I say!
